Hoofdstuk 1
Chapter 1
Once upon a time, a long, long time ago, in a city far far away, there was this city called New Pork City (no pun intended). The many enormous buildings gave many visitors the impression that it was a big city, where lots of people lived. And they were right too.
Now it's always once upon a time in Toon Town City
It's a big old bad old tough old town, it's true
But beginnings are contagious there
They're always settin' stages there
They're always turnin' pages there for you
Somewhere in that great city, a sixteen-year-old girl walked through the streets, all by herself. She had long blonde hair that fell over her shoulders and stunning green eyes that seemed to bore themselves right into yours. Her clothes, a simple green shirt and a pair of jeans, looked old and worn.
Her name was Sarah. She had just moved to this city and had been feeling loney since the day shed set foot in this new enviroment.
Not that anyone cared; her parents were to busy searcing for a new way to make money and her twin sister cared more about making friends with the newbourhood kids than spending time with her. Needless to say, Sarah hadnt made any friends herself.yet.
Ain't it great the way it all begins in Toon Town City
Right away you're makin' time and makin' friends!
Sarah signed and looked at her watch; it was nearly 12 pm. She knew that her curfew had passed a long time ago, but she was too angry to go home.
It was not that anyone would miss her. Her sister would probaly sleep over at one of her cool new friends homes and her parents werent even there. They trusted their two young daughters enough to leave them to fend for themselves.
God knows when they will be home again, Sarah thought bitterly as she took another glance at her watch. That is, IF they come home. Well, IM not going home either way. Let them rot in hell for all I care, Im never going back.
While the girl knew that running away wasnt going to solve everything, she had had enough with her selfish relatives. They never had and never would be care about hér needs, but expected her to be understanding about what THEY wanted and what THEY needed. Like her parents lame job or her sisters sociaal needs.
Sarah signed again and decided to look for a place to sleep for the night. Thinking about her family made her feel even worse than she already did.
Walking a little faster, she spotted a ally that looked safe enough and went to take a look. The ally wasnt as dirty and motty as the other allys she had seen during the day, it was empty too.
Well, when in Rome, Sarah went into the ally, sat down on the one spot that looked clean enough and leaned against the brick wall sprayed with grafiti. Slowly, she fell asleep.
No one cares where you were yesterday
If they pick you out you're on your way
To a once upon a time that never ends
So, Roxas, don't be shy
Get out there and go and try
Believin' that you're the guy they're dyin' to see
'Cause a dream's no crime
No once upon a time
Once upon a time in Toon Town City
Suddenly, only a few minutes later, rain began to pour down, waking Sarah from her slumber. Thinking fast, she grabbed the first thing she could find, an old newspaper and held it above her head so her clothes wont get wet.
Come on! She groaned to the heavens.
If it's always once upon a time in Toon Town City
Why does nightfall find ya feelin' so alone?
How could anyone stay starry-eyed
When it's rainin' cats and dogs outside
And the rain is saying "Now you're on your own"
Sarah got up and started to run, the newspaper was starting to melt in her hands and she could feel the cold drops of water falling into her hair, soaking it. She knew she needed to find a shelter from the rain as soon as possible.
Running across the street, she let go of her make-shift umbrella en lifted her hands above her head instead.
Why, why did we have to move to this STUPID town? she mumbled angrily, Only so that mom and dad could abandon us again, leaving me all on my own with no friends! She yelped when lighting flashed and started to run faster.
So, Sarah, don't be scared
Though yesterday no one cared
They're gettin' your place prepared where you wanna be
Sarah signed again as she moved on. All around her, neon lights were turning off, meaning that people were closing for the night.
Sarah watched while she entered another ally, still shielding herself from the rain with her arms. It seemed safe and dry, the perfect place to stay for the night. Oh, how wrong she was.
Keep your dream alive
Sarahs head snapped up as she suddenly heard someone hiss. She turned sharply, but saw nothing. Thinking she must have imagined it, she started to turn around again, only for a hand to glasp around her wrist.
Where do you think youre going, intruder? a low, threatening voice by her ear asked.
Sarah screamed and tried to run, but found that she couldnt because someone held her in place. She could feel strange hands on her shoulders and tried to struggle, but the person holding her was too strong.
It lookes like we getting a chance to have some fun after all, a second voice stated, sounding happy.
Sarahs eyes widened when she realized what the voice meant and did the first thing that came to mind; she raised a foot and stomped down on the toes of the person holding her. A loud scream told her shed hit the bullseye and the hands gripping her shoulders loosed some of their grip, just like she had expected.
Seizing the change to escape, she herself loose and started to run again, hoping to reach the end of the ally before her attacker recovered.
Dreamin' is still how the strong survive
She breathed a sign of relief when she reached the end of the ally and stepped back into the light, feeling like shed just run a marathon. Looking over her shoulder, she saw two figures, standing in the shadow, both looking angry.
She couldnt resist sticking out her tongue to them before she turned her back to the ally once and for all.
Once upon a time in Toon Town City
Her heart was still beating in her throat when she passed the same ally where she had tried to sleep earlier. The rain still poured down on her and her clothes sticked to her skin. The parts of her body that had been seized by her attackers hurt and she was feeling even more exhausted than before. At this point, she didnt care where shed sleep; the only thing that mattered now was that she COULD sleep.
Keep your dream alive
Dreamin' is still how the strong survive
Once upon a time in Toon Town City
Keep your dream alive
Finally she saw an parked truck, standing for a filling station. Without another thought, she crawled under the thing and signed again. It wasnt perfect, but it was dry and safe.
Watching the rain and draining out her hair, she wished that she would find a new home, as far away from her stupid family as possible, where she coud live with people who really cared for her; somewhere safe. The moment her hair was dry again, she lay down and went to sleep.
Dreamin' is still how the strong survive
Once upon a time in Toon Town City
And it's always once upon a time in Toon Town City
