Shot in the Dark

"Ik mis je zo!" mompelde Lyanne, terwijl ze huilend heen en weer wiegde, met haar armen om haar knieën geslagen. Maar daar kreeg ze Sinéad niet mee terug. Ze stond op. Haar hand op het geweer in haar riem, terwijl haar ogen de omgeving scanden, opzoek naar indringers. Was dat er één die Sinéad van haar had afgepakt? Ze legde haar vinger op de trekker. Niets. Of toch? Lag daar nou iemand? Heel voorzichtig liep ze er naartoe. "Sinéad!" fluisterde ze, en ze legde het pistool naast zich neer. Ze zakte op haar knieën naast hem neer, en nam zijn hoofd in haar handen. Maar toen schrok ze op van een geluid achter zich. Ze griste het pistool van de grond, en richtte het op het hart van de man voor haar. Daar stond hij in zijn lange jas. Toen was hij plots weer weg, en vanuit het donker word een schot op haar gelost, dat miste. Ze draaide zich om, en wilde Sinéad in veiligheid brengen, maar hij was weg. Weer van haar weggekaapt. Huilend zakte ze in elkaar. "Nee!" jammerde ze. Een plotselinge hand op haar schouder deed haar terugschrikken. Een vrouw die minstens drie keer zo oud was als zijzelf stond achter haar. "Kalm. Ik waarschuw je alleen. Vertrouw dit niet, het gaat fout! Hij is niet wie je denkt dat hij is!" en de vrouw trok haar aan haar schouder mee. Bij de brug liet de vrouw haar pas los, maar Lyanne vertoonde geen reactie. Ze staarde alleen maar wezenloos voor zich uit. "...gevaar!" hoorde ze alleen. Ze knikte vaag, en plofte neer op de grond, toen de vrouw weg liep. Ze was vastbesloten. Ze moest en zou Sinéad terughalen en zich wreken op die griezels!
